HEROIC REALMS

Artha and Hanegin passed the cabins, talking as they walked, making their way towards the road out of the stronghold. "So, back on the trails, huh?" Said the mage, looking to his friend.

Hanegin nodded, giving a shrug. "I've been here a few weeks and I've got less coin than when I got here. Not a situation I like, friend."

Artha chuckles. "Yeah, we can't all be Hanz, I suppose. Where are you thinking of going?"

"Probably back towards Pelazar. It's a rough place, but it's always good for business in my line of work." Hanegin said, pointing off over his shoulder down the trail, as the pair stop at the fork in the road. "Besides, I think I'm already in over my head. And on top of that, all the babes are taken or they stab me in the back."

"...uh... actually he was a guy, Hanegin." Artha says with a snicker.

"...I knew that! I keep forgetting, alright?" Hanegin facepalms. "Hey, you keep yourself out of trouble too, alright? You don't have me around to watch your back anymore."

Artha laughs. "Ahaha... then I'll DEFINITELY stay out of trouble. Last I checked, I was getting YOU out of trouble."

"I was innocent, I swear! Really! Did you HEAR some of those accusations?!" Hanegin says incredulously, then breaks into laughter as well. "I must be on my way, really. Artha, it's been good seeing you again. Are you sure you wouldn't want to come with? You can make a good coin up there..."

Artha shakes his head. "I'd love to, but I think I'm finally figuring out my place in the world here. I want to stick around as long as I can be of some use." He smiles, patting his friend on the shoulder. "Even if that use is just what I used to be back home."

"Comic relief?" Hanegin says with a mischievous grin.

"Hey!" Artha says, swatting Hanegin on the head lightly. "I prefer to call it 'boosting morale', you skirt-chasing nut."

Hanegin retorts back with a flatted staff bop to Artha. "I'll have you know I'm a complete gentleman, Fluffy."

Artha blinks, then facepalms. "Oh gods, you heard the nickname too... ugh."

"And I'm never forgetting it, Fluffy." Hanegin shakes Artha's hand, pulling him into a friendly hug. "Good luck on your heroic shenanigans here, and maybe I'll drop by again some time. We can go on more adventures like we used to!" Hanegin starts off down the trail, waving goodbye.

Artha laughs, waving as well. "And I'll be waiting to get you out of trouble again. Take care, Hanegin!" He chuckles as he heads back down towards the tavern. His mood is decidedly upbeat, despite the parting of ways. Maybe it's just the sleep deprivation talking.
